SAW is committed not only to creating opportunities for those with a pre-established interest in film, but also inciting that interest from an early age.

Katy Kardasz, Office Manager at Movietech Cymru, came in and delivered a workshop for Year 5 and 6 pupils in Usk Church in Wales Primary School. In school the children had been making horror films as part of their ‘Lights Camera Action’ project and were able to transfer their classroom work into professional contexts as Movietech kindly lent their high end equipment for the children. They used cameras, microphones, monitors and conducted making-of interviews on their school work. Katy also talked about her career working on shows like Merlin and Doctor Who and ran the pupils through camera angles and other aspects of film language.
