New T-shirts for Ysgol Pen-y-Bryn!

At the end of last month, we headed over to our wonderful partner school Ysgol Pen-y-Bryn for a visit. We were welcomed by the teachers and pupils with their usual enthusiasm, and we were so happy to be able to provide them with some new T-Shirts to say well done for all their hard work!

We hope you all enjoy the new t-shirts!
Steffan got to see some filming in action

Pen-y-Bryn Films, have been responsible for creating some of the most marvellous fan films and have made some incredible tributes to Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Superman, Stargate and more! Not only do the pupils star in these productions, but they also act as crew; painting sets, camera work, directing and other behind the camera roles. The school have done an incredible job of incorporating the creative industries into their curriculum, creating a hands-on experience that encourages the pupils to get involved whilst ensuring that their own personal learning is at the forefront of what they do. You can find these resources here on our website and you can learn more about how they work from the recent Estyn Case study here.

Bad Wolf’s very own Steffan Morris also joined us to visit the school, and even got to see some filming in action! We were then given a tour of the Pen-y-Bryn workshop where preparations have started for their next Doctor Who project, with the TARDIS building and painting coming together beautifully. Walking around the school reminded us of the work that happens at Wolf Studios Wales! (follow Pen-y-Bryn’s YouTube channel here to find out more).

Carpentry and scenic painting are both a part of Pen-y-Bryn films' projects
The pupils get to be hands-on through every stage of the process

We have always loved working alongside Pen-y-Bryn, and we continually look forward to seeing their films. This summer we were lucky enough to hold a special premiere at our classroom for their Doctor Who fan film Doctor Who: Curse of the Mummy (more here), which we hope to do again in the future. Don’t forget to follow Pen-y-Bryn on their social media channels to stay up to date with their projects.

We got a sneak peek behind the scenes of the schools latest film!
No spoilers! The newest film will be out this Christmas
