Lights, Camera, Donation! St Alban's Primary and Screen Alliance Wales

Last October, we announced that St Alban’s Primary School in Tremorfa was to be our partner school for this academic year. Situated in Tremorfa, Cardiff, St Alban’s is a Catholic Primary school dedicated to the education of children from ages 4 to 11 years of age. They are situated so close to Wolf Studios Wales, it only seems right that we try and recruit a few new members of our future work force from just around the corner!

In the Autumn term, we visited the school every week to deliver a number of hands-on workshops and activity sessions such as Stop Frame Animation, Computer Animation, Set Design, Scenic Painting, Puppetry, Prop Making and Special Effects!

They also came to visit us when we were filming, `His Dark Materials’ Season 3 at Wolf Studios Wales – but that is top secret!

Currently, as part of the Screen 4 Schools initiative alongside Cardiff Commitment and the University of South Wales, we are also working with St. Alban’s as well as Willows, Cathays and their feeder primary schools, to create individual films as part of the new Successful Futures curriculum in Wales.

Recently, we are also thrilled to have been able help the school out with this project and other media based ones by providing them with some brand new equipment. We have donated green screens, tripods and other IT and VFX equipment to assist the pupils in strengthening their coding, IT and media skills. We always try and actively encourage the next generation to consider a career within the Film and TV industry, and by making this donation, we hope that this creates a passion for the pupils to work in this field in the future.

We hope you enjoy the new equipment

Thank you again to St Alban’s for being a fantastic partner school this year- we hope this equipment will help you! Also, a BIG thank you goes to all our sponsors who enable us to be able to support St Alban’s in this way. We couldn’t do it without you!
