Pen-y-Bryn Doctor Who Premiere at Screen Alliance Wales!

Last month, we welcomed our wonderful partner school Ysgol Pen-y-Bryn, to the Screen Alliance Wales Classroom for a very special premiere of their Doctor Who fan film, `Doctor Who: Curse of the Mummy’. In their explosive movie, The Doctor battles his old foe the Master in a nail-biting and dramatic film, lovingly made by the pupils and teachers at the Swansea school. The film saw Pen-y-Bryn student James take the lead as the Time Lord from Gallifrey, with Georgia as his excellent companion, battling with terrifying Mummy robots and having to make decisions that will affect life as we know it!

Our special guests all ready for the world premiere

Despite the heatwave, the pupils were extremely excited to be invited to the grand premiere of their world-class film and were welcomed to Wolf Studios Wales with popcorn and drinks (as well as pizza for afters!). We were also joined by special guest Steffan Morris, Production Executive at Bad Wolf, who stayed to watch the film as well as hand out well-deserved ‘Oscars’ to all the cast after the screening. We also got to see some exclusive behind the scenes content, including a video where the cast and crew discuss what the project means to each of them as well as a hilarious bloopers reel!

The Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 learners and their teachers, especially James and Dean, worked tirelessly creating sets and costumes as well as filming the production themselves as part of their summer term 2022 film skills project. We are so pleased to follow the school on all of their projects, each one being a real labour of love, and can’t wait to see what’s to come next term!

Make sure to follow Ysgol Pen-y-Bryn on social media to keep up with all of their latest projects and head over to their YouTube channel (here) to view Doctor Who: Curse of the Mummy, as well as their previous productions. Also, a huge thank you to Ffion Chant for taking these amazing photos for us!
