Celebrating Royal Honours for Two Inspiring Leaders
Screen Alliance Wales is proud to share the incredible news that our Managing Director, Allison Dowzell, has been awarded an OBE, and Jane Tranter, CEO and co-founder of Bad Wolf, has been awarded a CBE in His Majesty The King’s Birthday Honours.
These honours not only recognise two extraordinary individuals, but also a decade of transformative change in Wales creative industries, change made possible through visionary leadership, passionate collaboration, and a belief in what Wales could achieve on a global screen stage.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of Bad Wolf, a company that has redefined television drama and reshaped the creative landscape in Wales. But it also marks ten years since two visionary women, Jane Tranter and Natasha Hale, first imagined a skills and training initiative that would ensure the success of high-end TV production in Wales left a lasting legacy.
That initiative became Screen Alliance Wales. SAW quite simply would not exist without the original vision, passion and strategic foresight of Jane and Natasha, and the continued support of the entire Bad Wolf team.
Allison Dowzell, OBE
Allison has dedicated her working life to the film and television industry, and her OBE reflects decades of commitment to removing barriers, championing talent, and ensuring young people across Wales can find their place in the screen sector.
“I’m incredibly honoured, and more than a little overwhelmed, to have been awarded an OBE in His Majesty The King’s Birthday Honours for services to the broadcast industry.
This recognition means a great deal, but it’s not something I accept alone. Building a career, and building something like Screen Alliance Wales, takes a team. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented, passionate and committed people in the industry.
Screen Alliance Wales simply wouldn’t exist without the extraordinary support of our industry partners, broadcasters, studios, crew, educators and facility companies, who have believed in what we do and helped us grow every step of the way. And I must give thanks to my family — my husband Bryn and children Kimberely, Amy and JC — for their unwavering support throughout this journey.”
We consider ourselves incredibly lucky to be led by her.
Congratulations, Allison Dowzell, OBE — with love from your SAW family.
Congratulations, Jane Tranter CBE and Allison Dowzell OBE — from everyone at Screen Alliance Wales.
