From Rags to Witches - Upcycling with Coleg y Cymoedd

Coleg y Cymoedd has been a proud supporter of Screen Alliance Wales for several years and we love to be able continue our support in any way we can.

We like to stay connected with our supporters as much as we can and are thrilled when we can help them out with all the exciting projects that they are involved with. Earlier this year, we sent the creative team over at Coleg y Cymoedd some spare materials and props that were left over from a previous Bad Wolf production, A Discovery of Witches.

'Mad Max' style costumes
Students from Coleg y Cymoedd went 'post-apocalyptic' for their latest creations

The brilliant first years from the BA Costume course at the college, used the materials that we gave them to create costumes for their ‘Mad Max’ inspired dye and breakdown workshop. They look fantastic, and it’s clear the amount of effort has gone into making these brilliant creations. Mad Max himself would be impressed.

More amazing creations
Left over fabric from a Discovery of Witches has been given a new lease of life at the hands of the first years at Coleg y Cymoedd.

In this current day and age, we must all make efforts to be more eco-conscious. We jump at any opportunity where we can re-use materials and are pleased when they go to a good home and also help support the future of costume design within the Welsh film and TV industry. We are certain that many of the students will have fantastic careers in costume and we are glad that we could be a small part of that.

We were also thrilled to be able to give the college several microscopes which we are pleased to say have found a new home in the science department and we are sure they will be looked after there

Screen Alliance Wales are so happy to be able to consider Coleg y Cymoedd as one of our closest partners and we hope that we can share more news about more projects we are both involved with in the future! Make sure to watch this space…
