Meet the Trainees

Kelly Emelle

Kelly studied Law at Bristol University, then completed an Introduction to Filmmaking course. She is currently an Executive Assistant at Bad Wolf and is responsible for diary management, minute taking and research tasks for script development projects.  She would like to progress either into Development and Script Editing or work as a writer.

Sian Gaddes

Sian graduated from the University of South Wales after studying TV and Film Set Design.  She is currently an Art Department Trainee and assists the department with graphics and set dressing.  She wants to work her way up to becoming an Art Director and continue to work in the Film and TV Industry.

Rasheed Bello

Rasheed studied law at university and then went on to work for Bristol City Council. He currently works as a Chanel 4 Trainee Script and Development Editor at Bad Wolf where he takes minutes for meetings and helps the research and script team. He is enjoying learning more about how a script is developed and he would love to become a writer himself, specifically writing in the romance genre.

Sam Brown

Based in Cardiff, Sam studied Scriptwriting for Film and TV, graduating in 2019. He is currently an Administration and Digital Content Assistant at Screen Alliance Wales, helping the department out with day-to-day duties and is also responsible for their website and social media content. He would eventually like to work within Development and Script Writing.

Harry Willicombe

Harry was originally a Primary School Teacher but has always had a passion for TV and Film.  He returned to Cardiff to pursue this career and is now an Assistant Covid Coordinator, responsible for ensuring the crew are fully tested and can work in a safe environment. He would like to become a Locations Scout in the future and looks forward to becoming part of the creative process behind the scenes in TV.

Abi Foster

After graduating with a degree in TV and Film Set Design from the University of South Wales, Abi completed a traineeship on ‘Sex Education’ in the Art Department before discovering a love of Set Decorating.  She is currently a Props Trainee, assisting the standby team on set as well as the Props Department. Her future goals include trying period dramas, advertisements, and music videos.

Yadiana Gibert

Yadiana studied in Cuba in Media and Communications, majoring in Video Editing, and then completed her MA Film at the University of Kent. She currently works as an Edit Trainee for HDM3. Her job entails prepping the dailies for the editors and creating tracklays with music and VFX for the weekly playouts. She wants to be a Video Editor in the future and continue working in Wales.

Robyn Selby

Robyn has worked mostly in retail since finishing 6th Form in her hometown of Barry. She is currently a Locations Trainee and would love to progress in the TV & Film industry. Her future goal is to be a Writer/Director but she has fallen in love with Locations and so she would be more than happy to work her way up within this department.

Matt Leask

Originally a Supporting Artist in front of the camera, Matt found a love for what goes on behind the scenes in TV whilst on Welsh-based shows such ‘Sex Education’. He now works as a Props Trainee and is excited about progressing further in this area of work, more specifically, in standby props.

Cora Pittard

Originally from Llanharry, Cora is now based in Cardiff. She studied a BA in Film at the University of South Wales.   She is currently a Post-Production Trainee and her job entails prepping the dailies for the editors and creating tracklays with music and VFX for the weekly playouts. She hopes to become an Editor in the future.

Dominik Marshall

Dominik studied BA in Acting at the University of Wolverhampton. However, whilst working on Welsh-based productions such as `Sex Education’ and `Havoc’, he realised that he had a passion for behind the scenes work and now works as a Studio Trainee, learning more about how Productions operate.  He hopes to continue to pursue a career in Acting and Directing in the future.

Christopher Davenport

Christopher studied Theatre Production then MA Design for Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.  He is currently the Costume Crowd Trainee, sorting out paperwork ready for the day and measuring and photographing the SAs. He assists the Crowd Wardrobe Mistress and Crowd Senior Design Assistant with the operation of the department. He hopes to become a Costume Supervisor in the future.

Mollie Carter

Mollie studied a BA Course in Prop Making at Coleg Y Cymoedd and is now a workshop trainee in the Creature FX department. With her degree, she is working towards pursuing a career in prop fabrication for high end Film and TV productions. 

Luke Russell

Carmarthen-based Luke studied film production at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham.  He is now a Locations Trainee with tasks as varied as herding sheep to interacting with the public to setting up tents! Luke loves working in this department but would also like to write and direct one day. 

Joseff Thomas

Prior to working on HDM 3, Joseff had just finished year 11 in school at Ysgol Plasmawr in Cardiff. As a trainee, he enters POs, updates the catering numbers and helps people in the office so he can learn as much as he can. His goal is to work his way up through accounts, gaining more experience and knowledge of how everything works.

Carys-Haf Williams

Originally from Ystrad Mynach, Carys-Haf graduated from a Theatre Design and Production course at University of Wales Trinity St David’s where she gained a variety of work placements. She is currently a Studio Trainee with a whole host of duties and hopes to one day become a Production Manager within live events, theatre and TV.

Amelia Beer

After graduating, Cardiff-based Amelia travelled, worked in schools and hospitality and as a lifeguard. She is currently a Health and Safety Trainee and doing her NEBOSH qualification. She assists with risk assessments, office and studio inspections and Covid administration. She would like to complete the H&S qualification and continue to work her way up in the Film & TV industry.

E-J Weeks

E-J studied on the Design for Performance course at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Currently a costume workroom trainee, EJ wants to train to become a confident costume maker and tailor herself, taking as much as she can from this experience to help her with her career.

Hester Haslett-Venus

Hester studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and got her degree in Design for Performance. She is now a workshop trainee in Creature FX and is working towards becoming a skilled model maker, hopefully within Stop Frame animation.

Tristan Griffiths

Tristan studied Events management at Plymouth University. He is originally from Newport and worked in hospitality until finding his current role as an assistant in the VFX department. He wants to eventually progress into a senior role, producing Sci-Fi films and he has huge and exciting aspirations.

Anson Day-Williams

Originally from Caerphilly, Anson studied Audio Production at the University of Lincoln. He now works in the sound department as a trainee and wants to continue working in this area – learning more skills and progressing further with sound work on film and TV productions.
