16 & 35 mm Film Camera Familiarisation (4 Day course)

CULT Cymru are delighted to be colloborating with The GBCT in bringing this exclusive, highly reputable and bespoke film Camera training to Wales. With funding from both WULF and Creative Wales, this course is highly subsidised to those living and working in Wales only. Who is it aimed at?
The course is aimed at first and second camera assistants and experienced trainees who have not been able to work with film but who would like to.
During the course we will cover:
- Film history and theory
- Camera terminology and explanation of parts
- How to load magazines and handle film
- How to use different 16 and 35mm cameras
- How film is used and managed on set
- Information about video assist
- How to test and prepare different pieces of equipment
- Administrative aspects (e.g. ordering and managing film stock supply)
- How to prepare rushes and communicate with laboratory
- Troubleshooting
By the end of the workshop you should be ....
We want you enjoy working with film cameras for the week and come away with a clear understanding of the individual steps which go into preparing and then using a film camera package as part of a larger system. After the course, we hope that you would be able to manage a small job shooting on film, like a short film or other small project.

Trainers
ROLAND PHILLIPS
Roland is a clapper loader and lives in London. He has been working in the camera department for more than ten years, across feature films, TV drama, comedy, commercials, music videos and anything else. Roland is a member of the GBCT is notorious for his terrible Dad jokes. Did you know that British people are getting used to the metric system, inch by inch?
SAM RHYS JAMES
Sam is an Arri Crew Focus Puller based in Cardiff. He first learnt film loading about ten years ago on the GBCT course and went on to work on 35mm features like Mission Impossible and Wonder Woman. He's recently focus pulled two 16mm projects and is looking forward to sharing his enthusiasm for FILM!

At bwy y mae wedi ei anelu?
Mae'r cwrs wedi'i anelu at gynorthwywyr camera cyntaf ac ail gamera a hyfforddeion profiadol nad ydynt wedi gallu gweithio gyda ffilm ond a hoffai wneud hynny.

- Gwybodaeth am gymorth fideo
- Sut i brofi a pharatoi gwahanol ddarnau o offer
- Agweddau gweinyddol (e.e. archebu a rheoli cyflenwad stoc ffilm)
- Sut i baratoi brwyn a chyfathrebu â labordy
- Datrys problemau
Erbyn diwedd y gweithdy dylech fod yn....
Rydym am i chi fwynhau gweithio gyda chamerâu ffilm am yr wythnos a dod i ffwrdd â dealltwriaeth glir o'r camau unigol sy'n mynd i mewn i baratoi ac yna defnyddio pecyn camera ffilm fel rhan o system fwy. Ar ôl y cwrs, gobeithiwn y byddech yn gallu rheoli saethu cynhyrchiad bach ar ffilm, fel ffilm fer neu brosiect bach arall.

ROLAND PHILLIPS
Mae Roland yn llwythwr clapper ac yn byw yn Llundain. Mae wedi bod yn gweithio yn yr adran camera ers dros ddeng mlynedd, ar draws ffilmiau nodwedd, drama deledu, comedi, hysbysebion, fideos cerddoriaeth ac unrhyw beth arall. Mae Roland yn aelod o'r GBCT yn enwog am ei jôcs Dad ofnadwy. Oeddech chi'n gwybod bod pobl Prydain yn dod i arfer â'r system fetrig, fodfedd wrth modfedd?

Mae Sam yn Puller Ffocws Criw Arri sydd wedi'i leoli yng Nghaerdydd. Dysgodd ffilm am y tro cyntaf yn llwytho tua deng mlynedd yn ôl ar y cwrs GBCT ac aeth ymlaen i weithio ar nodweddion 35mm fel Mission Impossible a Wonder Woman. Yn ddiweddar mae wedi canolbwyntio ar ddau brosiect 16mm ac mae'n edrych ymlaen at rannu ei frwdfrydedd dros FFILM!
