The Only Way is Up

Andrew started his Screen Alliance Wales journey exactly a year ago with two weeks work shadowing on the production `His Dark Materials’. His enthusiasm and dedication during his time shadowing on the floor really made him stand out.

After recently graduating from the University of South Wales with a BA in Film, he was eager to start his career in the industry. From his work shadowing placement, Andrew was offered paid work as a dailies runner on Sky Atlantic’s, `Gangs of London’, a Locations Marshall on `His Dark Materials’ and as an Office Runner for Bad Wolf.

After impressing in all of these roles, Andrew has recently been offered the position of Screen Alliance Wales’ Production Office Trainee on `His Dark Material’s’ Series 2.  He was given an unconditional offer to study his Masters in Directing at the University of South Wales but he chose to defer this for a year to accept his SAW traineeship.  Andrew wants to learn as much as he can so that, when he begins his Masters, he has a really solid understanding of how a production works from beginning to end as well as of all the departments that are involved with a high-end production.

We hope you enjoy the learning curve, Andrew! Here's to the next year!
