Living, Training and Working in Wales

ABBIE NEVER NEEDED TO LEAVE WALES TO REALISE HER DREAM OF WORKING IN COSTUME.

Abbie was born and brought up in Ystrad Mynach, Wales, and from an early age, knew she wanted to pursue a career in costume.  She studied Art and Design Foundation at Coleg Y Cymoedd which then led her to complete her Costume Construction BA Hons Degree alongside the University of South Wales.

Abbie gained a wealth of experience in theatre, even working as a dresser for the Welsh National Opera but knew she wanted to move into film and television.  In April this year, Abbie started her first job in the industry as Screen Alliance Wales Costume Trainee with a Bad Wolf Production.  This traineeship has proved invaluable to her and she has thoroughly enjoyed every minute.  She has moved from dressing crowds to dressing principal actors, equipping her with a wide range of experience on this production. Abbie loves the fact that she has to learn or do “something new” every day.  She can’t wait to take her next step into the industry once her SAW traineeship has been completed.
