FROM A TRAMPOLINE PARK TO A WORLDWIDE PUBLICITY COMPANY.......IN THREE YEARS!
Owen Deacon, 20, is a Social Media and Publicity Assistant Apprentice with IJPR, based right here in Wolf Studios. However, he didn’t take the usual route into the TV and film industry.
In 2015, Owen left school after completing his AS Levels and worked as a marshal at Go Air Trampoline Park in Llanishen, Cardiff. Owen, from Cardiff, worked there for two-and-a-half years. In 2017 whilst writing blogs about sports in his spare time, Owen became ITV Wales’ first Journalism Apprentice through Sgil Cyrmu – where he completed a 13-month apprenticeship, earning a level 3 diploma in Creative and Digital Media.
During his time at ITV Wales, Owen edited and created several videos for the media outlet’s website and social media platforms. On top of this, he also wrote many articles on topics such as sport, events and current affairs.
Following the end of the apprenticeship, Owen became an apprentice with IJPR Cymru; the Welsh branch of IJPR. Starting in October 2018, he has helped with publicity and social media on ‘His Dark Materials’ and ‘A Discovery of Witches’, which were both filmed at Wolf Studios Wales in Cardiff. Alongside this, Owen will be completing a level 4 apprenticeship in Advertising and Marketing, again with Sgil Cymru.
